The Tamil Nadu Government All Department Employees Union (TNGADEU) has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha to arrange for 40% commutation on the pension eligible for the retiring government servants.

In a release, C. Rajavelu, honorary state president of the union requested the Chief Minister to grant transport allowance, house rent allowance and medical allowance to state government employees on a par with the central government staff.

A team of union office-bearers met Ms. Jayalalitha in Chennai on Saturday. They assured her that the government employees would work with dedication to ensure that the benefits of the government's welfare schemes reached the people below the poverty line.
