NAGAPATTINAM: U. Mathivanan, Minister for Dairy Development, on Thursday, launched the sapling planting programme in Velankanni in Nagapattinam district and laid foundation stone for the construction of a community centre for the benefit of the tsunami-hit people in Velankanni area under the ‘Vidiyalai Noki,’ a project conceived by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited.

A.K.S. Vijayan, MP, who presided over the function, said that launching of the sapling planting programme in memory of tsunami victims also marked the World Environment Day on Thursday.

A. Sivakumaran, General Manager, Area Operations Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages in Tamil Nadu, said that ‘Vidiaylai Noki’ was yet another major tsunami rehabilitation project undertaken by the company.
