Southern Railway Employee's Sangh decide to do so tomorrow
TIRUCHI: With the Joint Council of Action comprising all Central Government Employees' Federations deciding to meet at New Delhi on January 15 to fix the date for commencing indefinite strike in support of their 24-charter of demands including formation of Sixth Pay Commission, Southern Railway Employee's Sangh, affiliated to National Federation of Indian Railway, has planned to conduct a strike ballot on January 5 in the Southern Railway.
Disclosing this to the media here, B.S. Suriyaprakasam, working general secretary, SRES, on Tuesday said the ballot would be conducted to ascertain the opinion of railway staff whether to go ahead with the strike or not. Based on the feedback, the Sangh would proceed further.
Membership of the Sangh was 67,000 in Southern Railway. Following the JCA meeting on January 15, members of the NFIR would meet at Ahmedabad on January 19.
The other demands of the JCA are filling up vacant posts in railways and withdrawal of new contributory pension scheme, etc.
