Plan to hold fair election to cooperative societies

: A control room would be set up at Joint Registrar’s office to conduct free and fair election in every district, said M.R. Mohan, Commissioner, Tamil Nadu State Cooperative Societies Election Commission (TNSCSEC).

He was presiding over the first district-level election meeting here on Wednesday.

Election would be held for all the 597 cooperative societies in the State in four phases on April 5, 12, 19 and 27. The election work would commence on March 23 and continue till May 6. The control room would ensure free and fair election, help officials clarify their doubts and guide them.

The Commissioner advised officials to take efforts to conduct free and fair election. Joint Registrar of Cooperatives would act as an election observer and verify electoral roll. A manual containing guidelines was distributed to officials.

Later, the Commissioner inspected arrangements at cooperative bank in Batlagundu and Nilakottai, and Dindigul land development bank.
