Former DMK

minister gets bail

Former DMK minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran on Thursday obtained bail in a disproportionate assets case.

The former minister, his wife R. Aadhilakshmi and A. Shamuga Moorthy, a Virudhunagar-based businessman and a close aide of Mr Ramachandran, were named in a charge-sheet filed at the vigilance and anti-corruption court here accusing them of acquiring disproportionate assets during Mr. Ramachandran’s tenure as minister from May 13, 2006 to March 31, 2010.

Mr. Ramachandran and Mr Shanmuga Moorthy appeared before Judge P. Vadamalai on Thursday and obtained bail. Mrs Aadhilakshmi, however, did not appear as she did not receive the summons. The judge ordered fresh summons to her and adjourned the case to March 21. — Staff Reporter
