A writ petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here levelling abduction and extortion charges against Lenin Krishnamoorthy, who is reportedly a business partner of Minister K.T. Balaji. The petitioner also claimed that the Minister had a role in his abduction and extortion of money from his family.

The petitioner, M. Davidraj (42), a resident of Satchiyapuram in Sivakasi, moved the court claiming that he and his father Marimuthu were abducted from his house on November 18, 2012 by Mr. Lenin Krishnamoorthy, claimed to be a partner of Mr Balaji in real estate business.

According to Mr Davidraj, after the abduction, more than Rs two lakh was extorted from his family, besides gold jewels.

He added that the Tiruthangal police showed negligence in securing the father-son’s release and therefore his friend Rajeshwaran sought the aid of the Inspector General of Police, South Zone, to rescue them from the abductors.

“After realising that the IG’s office was involved in the investigation, the abductors released us and Mr Lenin Krishnamoorthy dropped his plan of executing the sale deed unlawfully in his favour,” said the petitioner. However, he expressed apprehension that his family might face threat in the hands of the abductors.
