CHENNAI: A petition was submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Thursday requesting him to "restrain" the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from conducting a reported survey on the households which did not possess colour television sets.

In a petition to the CEO, five advocates of the Madras High Court--S.Diwakar, T.K.Ashok Kumar, S.Krishnamoorthy, K.S.Arumugam and V.Manipallavan--referred to the DMK president's remark that a survey had begun on such households for distribution of colour television sets as promised by the party if elected to power.

Conducting the survey was violation of model code of conduct, they said.
