CHENNAI: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on Tuesday granted permission for export of 1,200 tonnes of non-basmati rice and toor dhal to Colombo on humanitarian grounds.

In a letter sent to the State Government, the DGFT officials said that there is a ban on export of non-basmati rice and toor dhal from India. Considering the humanitarian aid, the existing ban on exports will not apply in this case.
