Tuticorin District Amateur Kabaddi Association appealed to police to issue permission to conduct kabaddi tournaments in the district.

In a petition to Superintendent of Police Rajendran, Tiruchendur MLA and president of the association Anita R.Radhakrishnan said the district, which had produced international kabaddi players like Manaththi P.Ganesan and Kulaththur P.Ponraj, had a good number of promising kabaddi players.

A number of players was absorbed in public and private sector undertakings and hundreds of players were groomed in schools and colleges. However, kabaddi tournaments could not be conducted in the district since the last quarter of 2012 as police had refused to give permission citing “unwarranted reasons.”
