Perambalur district has secured a substantially higher percentage than last year in the SSLC examinations for which the results were declared on Friday.

While the pass percentage last year was 84.46, this year it has jumped to 90.38 with 8,383 of the total 9,275 candidates passing out.

Of them 4,420 (90.11 per cent) are boys and 3,963 (90.69 per cent) girls. Besides, of the 125 schools in the district, 40 have secured cent per cent results.

Of them 11 are government schools. G. K. Selvambika of Little Flower Matriculation School, Chettikulam, secured 496, and emerged third in the State and the topper in the district.

R. Rubika of Fr. Rover Matriculation School, Perambalur, was the second with 495 marks, while R. S. Revathi of St. Mary’s High School, Agaram, was the third with 494 marks. Collector Darez Ahamed congratulated the toppers.
