SALEM: Several people, including leaders of various political parties, on Sunday paid homage to Radhakrishnan, whose organs were donated after he was declared ‘brain-dead’ following a road accident here recently.

After donating his heart, two kidneys and eyes, the body was brought here from Chennai for the final rites. Doctors and paramedical staff of the Salem Kamala Hospital where Radhakrishnan worked as an operation theatre assistant, also paid homage. Veerapandi MLA A. Raja handed over a cheque of Rs. 50,000 to Radhakrishnan’s wife Latha on behalf of Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam.

PMK MLA A. Tamilarasu said his party would donate Rs 1 lakh to meet the educational expenses of his two daughters. AIADMK MLA Ravichandran placed a wreath.
