They say they are yet to receive pension even two years after computation
Pensioners of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) staged a dharna at Cantonment criticising the managements and the State government for withholding pension.
They demanded the government to act promptly on the recommendations made by the pension reforms committee.
They complained that they were yet to receive the pension two years after computation of the benefits accruing to the retired employees and that corresponding increase in dearness allowance was denied to them. They sought the payment of dearness allowance with retrospective effect along with arrears, and arrears of medical allowance. The retirement benefits must be paid in accordance with the agreement arrived at in 2010, they said and called for inclusion of those appointed after April 1, 2003, under the pension scheme.
Special pension must be granted to retired employees over 80 years of age.
A mechanism to redress grievances of pensioners at regional level must be introduced, they said and requested payment of pension for those who had retired before 1998.
K. Marudhamuthu and M. Ekambaram, representatives of the TNSTC and SETC, highlighted these demands during the demonstration.
