SALEM: Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Salem sub-regional office, has requested pensioners to open savings bank account for receiving the monthly pension.

According to a press release from Regional Provident Fund Commissioner T. R. Sugadev, the EPFO is disbursing the monthly pension to the beneficiaries under the Employees' Family Pension Scheme, 1971 through post offices so far. But it has since been decided to discontinue the disbursement of pension payable for the month of April 2007 onwards through post offices.

The pensioners can open savings bank account in the following designated banks, State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC bank and UTI bank.

The pensioners should submit three passport size photographs duly attested by the bank manager along with attested photocopy of the first page of the savings bank account passbook.

The pensioners may also submit pensioners' portion of the pension payment order to the EPFO sub regional office directly.

A communication in this regard had been sent to the pensioners and the post offices concerned, the release said.
