CUDDALORE: The Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Union (TNGEU) has appealed to the government to absorb all candidates who had served in as temporary junior assistants and temporary assistants in the Secretariat, and, fix timescale pay for them.

State president of TNGEU K. Balasubramanian told reporters here that a total of 11,356 candidates were appointed to these two temporary posts in 2003. When a request was made to regularise them, qualifying examinations were conducted in February 2008 to select the eligible candidates. In all 6,262 candidates were selected . However, many of them were left out. Hence, the union appealed to the government to keep all those who had obtained over 30 per cent marks in the wait list to be absorbed as and when vacancies arise and also to regularise those who had completed five years of service.
