HOSUR: A Rajasthan-based pawn broker escaped with the jewellery and silver ornaments mortgaged by people in and around Hosur town.

Over 85 people who had pawned their jewellery have lodged a complaint with the Hosur town police on Monday. They said that the house and shop of T. Mahendrakumar of Tulasi Banker’s was found locked for more than a week. He was staying at a house at Kamarajar Colony with his family.

A few month ago, Mahendrakumar lodged a complaint with the police that one kg of jewellery were stolen from his house by some persons. People suspected that it was a foul play by the pawn broker to hoodwink the poor.

Hosur police have registered cases under sections 409 and 420 of IPC and is on hunt for Mahendrakumar and his family.
