The Coimbatore Passport Office has cleared the applications submitted till April 12 under category A (first time passport applicants through passport office) and the passports in respect of the same had been despatched.

A release from Passport Officer S. Sasikumar said that first-time passport applications under category Z (through District Passport Cells in Collectorates) and category W (through Speed Post Centres) submitted till April 6 have been cleared. Applications for renewal of passports on expiry i.e., category B submitted till May 3 have been cleared and passports have been despatched.

Applications seeking passports for minors i.e., category C submitted till May 5 have been cleared. Applications filed under category K (minor corrections such as spouse name entry and change of address) submitted till May 9 had been cleared and passports had been despatched.

Applications filed under D category i.e., duplicate for replacement of lost or damaged passports filed till April 14 have been cleared. Only in certain cases, passports could not have been despatched for want of police verification reports or delay in receipt of the same.

Police verification

Passport Office has written to the Superintendents of Police of Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore and the Nilgiris districts and Commissioners of Police of Salem and Coimbatore cities for speedy processing of police verification reports.
