Theni registers a dip in the percentage

DINDIGUL: Pass percentage had marginally gone up in higher secondary exams in the district this year when compared to the previous year. Pass percentage this year was 86 per cent while it was 80 per cent last year.

Total number of students who appeared for the exam were 17,566 including 8,380 boys and 9,186 girls. A total of 15,022 students - 6,823 boys and 8,199 girls - passed.

Girls excelled well and the pass percentage of girls was far ahead of boys. About 81.42 per cent boys and 89.26 per cent of girls passed. More over, pass percentage of Dindigul Educational district was higher than the results of Palani educational district.

Twenty three schools, mostly matriculation and aided schools, had achieved cent per cent pass percentage. Performance of government schools in rural areas was extremely good.

Pass percentage of government HSS at Iyyampalayam shot up to 95 per cent from just 52 per cent and Government Kallar HSS, Kondamnaickanpatti rose to 95 per cent from 55 per cent. Government HSS in Palani and Landhakottai too achieved more than 90 per cent results. Percentage was more than 90 per cent in Government schools at Dharmathupatti, Agaram and K. Pudhukottai from previous year results which were around 65 per cent.


Pass percentage was 0.57 per cent less than the results of previous year in the district. Total pass percentage was 87.77 per cent. Girls outnumbered boys in pass percentage also. Adhi Dravida HSS, Koonur achieved cent per cent result. All the 55 students of this school passed the exams successfully, said Chief Educational Officer S. Selva Kumar.

Total number of students who appeared were 11,533 including 5,785 boys and 5,748 girls. A total of 10,123 students including 4,860 boys and 5,263 girls passed. Thirteen schools achieved cent per cent results.
