Dindigul district has recorded a pass percentage of 88.61 in SSLC examination this year, up by 1.6 per cent from last year’s 87.5 per cent, according to Chief Educational Officer A.Sukumar Devadoss.
Girls performed better than boys, clinching most of the state and district ranks. About 92.27 per cent of girls and 85.06 per cent of boys passed in the exam. Performance of government schools was exceedingly good. Government Girls HSS, Vedasandur, produced state third rank holder.
A total of 93 schools – nine government high and higher secondary schools, 62 matriculation schools, nine self-financing schools and 13 aided schools — achieved cent per results. Eighty five per cent of schools that achieved full pass cent per cent have their student strength in two digits only and 14 schools have less than 10 students.
Government schools at Chinnagandhipuram, Chinnakarattupatti, Kaveriammapatti, Nallamanarkottai, Servaikaranpatti, Velavarkottai, Meenakshinaickenpatti and Devinaickenpatti and Government Kallar HS at E.Avarampu achieved cent per cent results.
Of the total 30,685 students who appeared for the exams, 27,190 students passed the exams in Dindigul district and 17,264 students of total 19,218 students who appeared passed in Theni district.
The pass percentage in Theni district is 89.83 per cent, down by 1.89 per cent from previous year’s percentage of 91.72, according to Education Department officials. However, the district has produced one state second rank holder and five state third rank holders. Underperformance by some schools, particularly government schools, brought down the pass percentage, they added.
