Namakkal: The newly-formed District Panchayat council passed a resolution to cancel all 26 works passed by the previous council (DMK majority) and were earlier stopped by the Collector.

It was passed during the District Panchayat council meeting held at its officer near the Collectorate here on Monday.

A resolution was also passed by the council urging the state government to start a District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) in the district.

The council members said Namakkal had been separated from Salem district about 15 years ago but it was yet to have its own DCCB.

The district panchayat council members also thanked the Chief Minister for sanctioning Rs. 2.75 crore to carry out various development works on Kolli Hills to promote it as an eco tourism destination.
