The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing police have arrested a panchayat clerk for allegedly taking bribe from a beneficiary of the Chief Minister’s Green House Project.

Sources in the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing said the State government had released the first instalment of Rs.30,000 to S. Chelladurai (42) of Ooththumalai for constructing a green house. When the beneficiary approached panchayat clerk N. Thirumalaisamy (40) for releasing the amount, the latter reportedly demanded Rs.1,500 as bribe.

Mr.Chelladurai filed a complaint with Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing Deputy Superintendent of Police Thangasamy, who trapped Thirumalaisamy when he was taking the money from the beneficiary on Tuesday.

Further investigations are on.
