PERAMBALUR: Standing paddy on 1,500 acres has been extensively damaged by the showers in parts of the district last week, according to a preliminary estimate.

Agriculture department officials have formed several teams for assessing the exact area damaged by the rain.

In a press release issued here on Monday, the Collector, Anil Meshram, has urged the farmers to inform the officials of the Agriculture, Horticulture or Revenue departments of the extent of damage caused to their crops.

The Collector also said that adequate compensation would be disbursed to the farmers, once the State Government released the funds.

Grievance day meet

The Collector also said that the monthly grievance day meeting will be held at the Collecorate at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

He requested the farmers to participate in the meeting and air their grievances.
