ERODE: Devotees of Goddess Bannari Amman have said the price of a puja plate is ‘exorbitant’ and asked for price regulation from the temple administration.

In a release the devotees, under the banner Bannari Kovil Bakthargal Pathugappu Peravai have said that as against the temple administration’s stipulation that a puja plate containing a coconut, two bananas, beetle leaves and nuts and incense sticks should not be sold for more than Rs. 15, the persons who have taken on tender the puja stall were selling it at Rs. 40.

Similarly, as against the regulation that a garland ought not to be sold more than Rs. 15, the persons were selling it at Rs. 40.

Pointing out that devotees, particularly the poor, were being put to hardships, the devotees have urged the temple administration to intervene in the matter to ensure that the puja articles are not overpriced.
