First prize winners to represent Tiruchi district in State level competitions

TIRUCHI: Over 160 students, including girls, from about 30 schools all over the district participated in the district level cultural competition.

It was conducted by the State Department of Arts and Culture at Vignesh Sri Renga Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Srirangam on Sunday.

Competitions in vocal, dance and painting were held in three categories: 5– 8 years, 9–12 years and 13–16 years.

School correspondent D. Vridhachalam inaugurated the events in the presence of Principal A. Rex Mario Britto and Assistant Director of Art and Culture R. Gunasekaran.

The first prize winners in the 9–12 years and 13–16 years categories will represent the district in the State level competitions scheduled at Chennai shortly.

Following is the list of the winners:


5-8 years: 1. R. S. Arul Carmel Lisi (RSK HSS), 2. K.A. Villet Oviya (RSK HSS), 3. K. Bhuvanesh (BHEL MS).

9-12 years: 1. Manishankar (SBIOA MHSS), 2. Prerna Nataraj (RSK HSS), 3. J. Sibi Kalyan (SBIOA MHSS).

13-16 years: 1. J. Praveen (SBIOA MHSS), 2. N. Kishore (RSK HSS), 3. M. Manju (Government Girls HSS, Srirangam).


5-8 years: 1. Sowmyasri (Jayendra Matriculation School), 2. G. Harini, 3. S. S. Aparna (both RSK HSS).

9-12 years: 1. R. Divyasri (Railway Mixed School), 2. E. Suganthi (St. Joseph’s School), 3. M. Kowshika (SVS) and G. Anupriya (RSK HSS). 13-16 years: 1. R. Vidhursika (SBIOA MHSS), 2. Gayathri (Little Flower), 3. V. Sagarika (SRV MHSS).


5-8 years: 1. S. Lalitha (Vignesh Sri Renga MHSS), 2. S. Akila (RMS School), 3. G. Aishwaryalakshmi (SBIOA MHSS). 9-12 years: 1. Jayabhargavi (Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidhyalaya), 2. S. Swarnalatha (Sri Akilandeswari Vidhyalaya), 3. Pooja (Sri Akilandeswari Vidhyalaya). 13-16 years: 1. Sivasubramanian (Sri Sivananda Balalaya), 2. S. Jayamathangi (Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidhyalaya), 3. R. Sherley Joy Sindhya (SRV MHSS).
