New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed an order of the Madras High Court refusing anticipatory bail to the leader of the Puthiya Tamizhagam party, K. Krishnasamy, in connection with a case of murder.

A Bench, comprising Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P.P. Naolekar, stayed the impugned judgment dated December 23, 2005 dismissing Dr. Krishnasamy's application seeking anticipatory bail.

The Bench issued notice to the Tamil Nadu Government returnable in three weeks on the special leave petition challenging the judgment.

As an interim protection, the Bench stayed the operation of the judgment.
