The marine police along with the local district police took part in ‘Operation Hamla’ on Thursday.

According to police sources, apart from the marine police who patrolled the sea to ensure that there were no intrusion by outsiders, five police teams had been formed to step up vigil in the coastal areas from Arockiyapuram near Kanyakumari to Neerodi in the Kerala border.

The five teams monitored suspicious movement of strangers on this stretch. The entire operation took place under the supervision of Superintendent of Police N.Manivannan.

‘Operation Hamla’ is a routine drill aimed at assessing the preparedness of the forces in the event of a terrorist attack.
