The Train Travellers' Welfare Association here has appealed to the divisional railway authorities to establish computerised passenger reservation system at Tiruverambur railway station.
Setting up a computerised passenger reservation system at Tiruverambur station would immensely benefit residents of Tiruverambur, HAPP, OFT, Anna Nagar, Navalpattu, Vengur, Sarkarpalayam and Kattur, the association general secretary M. Lourdu Raj said while making this demand at the station consultative committee meeting held here recently.
The association has urged the railway authorities to raise the platform level at Bikshandarkoil railway station to enable senior citizens, women and children alight easily from the train.
Speedy completion of works relating to converting platforms 6 and 7 at Tiruchi Junction into broad gauge standards; establishment of a high mast light at the second entrance (Kallukuzhi side) of Tiruchi Junction; posting additional railway staff in current ticket counters at Tiruchi Junction during summer and festival seasons from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. for the benefit of the rail travellers; posting Railway Protection Force personnel at current ticket counter area to ensure that passengers stood in queue to buy tickets and protect their belongings; establishment of computerised passenger reservation system at Ponmalai railway station and installing more public address system at the Tiruchi Junction to enable travellers coming by walk know the status of the trains were the other demands kept by the Association during the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by the Divisional Railway Manager P.V. Vaidialingam.
The Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi M. Selvaraj, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager A.P. Muthuramalingam, Station Consultative Committee members took part in the meeting, a press release here said.
