Tenkasi Sulaiman (34), one of the few persons picked up for questioning in connection with the seizure of 12 petrol bombs from a bush at Azad Nagar in Karumbukkadai area has been arrested following confirmation about his involvement.

On Wednesday morning, city police personnel seized Molotov cocktails and suspected the same to have been prepared for hurling at cinema theatres in the event of the movie Vishwaroopam being cleared by the court for screening.

Detained under Goondas Act

Collector M. Karunagaran has ordered the detention of three persons under the Goondas Act based on the recommendations of the Civil Supplies CID.

Three persons namely Thangavel, Janaki and Selvaraj were recently arrested by the civil supplies CID during a raid conducted by them along with the civil supplies and oil corporation officials after they were found to be indulging in diversion and misusing of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes and for use as auto fuel.

The teams seized 127 cylinders, 49 customer gas cards, 49 SIM cards used for booking cylinders on their premises at Neelambur on the outskirts of the city.

BJP activist ‘abducted’

Pollachi police are probing into a complaint from Kalavathy that her husband Senthil Kumar (40), an used car dealer and a Bharathiya Janata Party functionary was abducted from their house at Narasingapuram in Pollachi by a group of six persons.

According to the complainant, the victim was with children who had come from school, when the six of them forcefully bundled him into their car. Based on the complaint, police have begun investigations.

Man found dead

Pechimuthu (52) of Konavaikalpalayam near Podnaur was found hanging at his residence. He was living alone after his wife Mariammal (50) left for her parent’s place in Gobichettipalayam with her two sons and a daughter. Police suspect that the victim should have resorted to the extreme decision after the family spoke ill of him for coming empty handed for a function.
