PUDUKOTTAI: The students of Government Upper Primary School, Pudukottai, got an opportunity to know about the activities of National Green Corps (NGC) and the Environmental Club of the school, when a special seminar was conducted recently. The seminar aimed at creating awareness of hazards of burning tyres and plastic material on the Boghi day.

To drive home the point, the NGC and the club organised several competitions to ascertain students' views on the ill effects caused by poisonous gasses.

M. Sharmila Banu, N. Nandini, Muthu Meenal, secured prizes in oratorical competition and P. Ranjitha, P. Yogalakshmi and M. Sharmila Banu won prizes in essay writing contest. The headmaster of the school, P. Muruganandam, the district secretary of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, V. Gunaseelan, and the vice-chairman of the Pudukottai Municipal Council, K. Naina Mohamed, spoke.
