District Collector R. Palanisamy has directed the officials to prepare pamphlets containing the details of the government schemes, eligibility criteria of beneficiaries, whom to approach and so on, to be distributed in the rural areas.

Such pamphlets could be distributed among the people whenever the officials went for inspection to villages. It would create awareness among the people about the welfare measures available to them.

Mr. Palanisamy made this observation while attending the mass contact programme held at Pu. Konalavadi in Ulundurpet block near here on Saturday. The Collector said the pavilions put up in the village showcased the performance of the various departments.

He called upon the villagers to send all their wards to schools as the government would provide them with all the educational assistance besides supplying five eggs a week to keep them healthy.

The Collector impressed upon the farming community to take to the cultivation of Rajarajan-1000 paddy variety as it could fetch substantial dividend to them. Listing out the advantages of the paddy variety, Mr. Palanisamy said that with less quantity of seeds and less quantum of water per acre the farmers could reap rich harvest.

On the occasion, the Collector received 474 petitions seeking various benefits.
