: The police and revenue officials conducted a check at Aralvoimozhi check-post as well as Anjugramam to verify whether money or gift was being transported to Kanyakumari district after over 2,000 cadres from the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) from different parts of district reportedly joined the Dravida Munnettra Kazhgam (DMK) in the presence of the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in Chennai on Tuesday.

Based on information that the DMK had given gift materials and cash, the team conducted the raid on Tirunelveli-Kanyakumari border and Anjugramam.

According to sources, more than 2000 cadres of the DMDK belonging to different parts of the district went to Chennai in more than 43 State Transport Corporation as well private buses to Chennai to join the DMK. However, some DMDK cadres who joined the DMK reportedly got down in Tirunelveli.
