Holds discussion through videoconferencing with Collectors
TIRUNELVELI: K. Shanmugam, Secretary, Department of Food, Cooperation and Consumer Protection, had discussion through videoconferencing with Collectors of various districts, including Tirunelveli, relating to the ongoing 100 per cent verification of ration cards, on Saturday.
Participating in the discussion, Collector M. Jayaraman said that over 5.70 lakh ration cards had been verified so far through door-to-door inspection in Tirunelveli district, having 8.55 lakh family cards. The field verification, to be completed on September 11, was being carried out by 1,410 field staff, 169 supervisors and 11 regional officers and fake ration cards were being removed from the rolls.
“Even as 67 per cent of this exercise had been completed, three officials, who failed to discharge their duties properly, have been taken to task. Apart from filing complaints at nellai.tn.gov.in, the public can contact 94450 00379 to register their grievances,” Mr. Jayaraman said.
District Revenue Officer P. Ramanasaraswathi; District Supplies Officer Sukumaran; District Public Relations Officer U. Ravindran; and other officials participated in the discussion.
