He announces a reward of Rs.25,000 for maintenance staff

“Function effectively to improve the image of Railways”

TIRUCHI: The tidy maintenance at Tiruchi Junction came in for praise and prompt reward from Raj Kamal Rao, Member (Mechanical), Railway Board.

Mr. Rao, who paid a surprise visit to Junction on Wednesday evening, went around platform one, the upper-class waiting hall, the air-conditioned payment waiting hall, retiring rooms and the VIP lounge.

So impressed was Mr. Rao with the cleanliness and passenger-friendly environment that he immediately announced a reward of Rs.25,000 for the maintenance staff.

In an informal chat with railway personnel, Mr. Rao said the goal of providing passenger amenities could be achieved only through the efforts and cooperation of the staff. Proper maintenance of the facilities was the major bottleneck hindering the delivery of quality service.

V. Carmelus, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Southern Railway; Divisional Railway Manager S. Subramhanyan; Additional DRM S. Ramasubbu; Senior Divisional Engineer P. V. V. Reddy; and Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Anupam Chauhan accompanied Mr. Rao.

Later, Mr. Rao visited the divisional office and held discussions with officials on development works. He called upon the officials to function effectively to improve the image of the Railways.

Mr. Subramhanyan spoke about the development works being executed in the division.
