Official inspects progress of drainage, water schemes in city

Joint Commissioner of Municipal Administration Ajay Yadav on Friday determined the preparedness of Tiruchi Corporation to bring omitted portions of Srirangam zone in the underground drainage system.

A project entailing investment of Rs.24 crore was launched by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Mr. Yadav who conducted an inspection of the omitted areas, said a new technology would be adopted in localities where residences adjoin rampart walls of Srirangam Renganathaswamy Temple, to safeguard the structure.

He later inspected Ariyamanalam garbage dump where a private entity has been entrusted with the task of converting waste into manure.

Accompanied by Corporation Commissioner V. Dhandapani and other senior officials and engineers, Mr. Yadav also reviewed the progress of the Rs.221.42 crore drinking water augmentation scheme in the city.
