Sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption unit arrested field surveyor R.Gunam of Pudunagar Firka near Gandarvakottai on Wednesday on a charge of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000 for marking the boundary of a property. According to DVAC sources, R.Thandamurthu had complained that the official demanded bribe for identifying boundary of a house site at Punalkulam village.

The official had advised him to come to a private building to handover the bribe. Based on the complaint, DVAC Deputy SP J.Rathinavelu and inspectors K.Ramachandran and G.Mathialagan caught the official red-handed. He was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, M.Muthukrishnan, who remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.
