Udhagamandalam: Members of the All India Physically Challenged Persons Welfare Association now have something to cheer about.
Thanks to the concerted efforts made by those in-charge they can hereafter boast of an office of their own.
It was inaugurated on Wednesday by a physically challenged woman Shanthi Robert.
At a meeting which followed the members urged all the physically challenged persons to make optimum use of the facilities provided by the office.
The government should permit the association to provide vocational training to handicapped persons.
They wanted the government to give free bus passes which can be used all over the state. Steps should be taken to remove difficulties encountered in getting community and income certificates.
The president of the association R. Prabhu presided. The secretary, M.Manickam, spoke. Treasurer J. Leelavathi Jayakumar proposed a vote of thanks.
