KARAIKAL: The Karaikal Union Territory Struggle Group (KUTSG) on Tuesday staged a novel protest of begging on streets to contribute for laying new broad gauge rail link between Nagore and Karaikal.

Several members, including president of the KUTSG N. Nandhivarman, raised slogans against the Government for not taking steps to allocate 50 per cent of Rs.66-crore total cost. The members collected Rs.201 on Tuesday and sent the money to Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav towards the initial contribution from Karaikal people. The group also appealed to the Chief Minister to take immediate steps in this regard.
