PUDUKOTTAI: The Pudukottai Central Jaycees and Red Cross unit jointly organised a function to distribute books, notebooks, scales, pens and pencils, mats and towels to students of Jeevan Residential School functioning at Rajagopalapuram First Street here recently.

A former Rotary deputy governor, A. Mohamed Mansoor was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said the project was implemented in connection with the birthday of joint secretary of the Jaycees, A. Zakir Hussain, and called upon other members of the club to follow suit. The members could also celebrate the birthday of students of such schools along with their birthdays, he said.

The president of the Jaycees, Krishna Varadarajan, presided over the function and former presidents, K.N.K. Arumugam and R.M. Lakshmanan, and secretary, M.A. Akbar, also spoke.
