School headmasters are mandated to taste the food cooked by mid-day meal centres and anganwadis to ensure food safety before being served to children, said the director for social welfare, Xavier K.Nayagam, here on Wednesday. Visiting the noon meal centres and anganwadis at Sikkal, Azhiyur and Keezhvelur, Mr. Nayagam inspected the vegetables and eggs stocked. He also inspected the new anganwadi centre constructed at a cost of Rs.1.75 lakh at Sikkal panchayat union elementary school and the new centres come up at Rs. 2.75 lakh each at Keezhvelur and Azhiyur.
