Even as BJP volunteers staged a demonstration on Friday demanding Royapuram be made the third railway terminal in Chennai instead of the proposed Tambaram, Southern Railway authorities were categorical that there was no such proposal at all. When contacted, Southern Railway authorities told The Hindu: “Administratively there is no proposal for shifting the operations of Egmore to Tambaram in a bid to make it the third terminal. It is only the media that are writing about it and we have been receiving a number of representations also.”
