Agriculture Minister Veerapandi Arumugam on Thursday told the Assembly that there was no impropriety in his visiting his nephew in jail, who has been arrested on charges of involvement in the murder of six persons.

Reacting to AIADMK member L. Ravichandran who questioned his visit, the Minister said constitutionally and legally there was nothing wrong in his visiting K. Sureshkumar, his nephew and vice-chairman of Salem district panchayat.

He said an AIADMK advocate was behind the murders.
