While farmers in the Delta continue to reel under severe drought, the Governor’s address in the Assembly did not have any good news for them, Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan told news persons on Saturday, after attending a function at Komarapalyam.

The address was also disappointing on the power crisis in the State, he said.

Mr. Vasan pointed out Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had asked the Government of Karnataka to release Tamil Nadu’s share of water recently.

“All political parties (in Tamil Nadu) are united in this cause (Cauvery issue),” the Minister said.

The UPA would come to power in 2014 under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and more regional parties would join the United Progressive Alliance for the 2016 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, he said.
