NAMAKKAL: The district administration has not come across dengue fever cases in any part of the district, Namakkal Collector U. Sagayam has said.
He also warned those who are spreading such rumours of stern action.
The Collector has said people can approach the nearby primary health centre (PHC) or can dial 1056 to contact the control room set up by the health department to obtain more information. They can also contact the Deputy Director of Health Services by dialling 04286-281424.
Mr. Sagayam said the district administration stepped up surveillance in all the parts of the district following the onset of North East Monsoon. All government hospitals and PHCs have adequate stock of medicine. Mosquito control measures are being carried out in all the parts.
He called upon the people to empty the accumulated rainwater in unused containers, tyres, coconut shells and pots to prevent mosquito breeding.
People should clean water tanks at least once in a week and try to keep their surroundings neat and tidy.
Persons with symptoms of fever should approach the nearby PHC immediately, he stressed. Teams of doctors and health officials are visiting rural areas and educating people about sanitation.
Spraying of mosquito repellents is being undertaken in all the parts of the district, he added.
