The Neyveli Lignite Corporation has planned to introduce Super Critical Boilers in its future projects to reduce fuel use, said B. Surender Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC,

Speaking at the Engineers’ Day Celebrations held at Neyveli on Wednesday, he said climate change had been posing a serious challenge to society. Everyone has realised the gravity of the issue. Slogans on saving environment had gained momentum and it was the need of the hour to explore innovative technologies.

Fossil fuel-based power stations and crude oil-based industries were the main sources of carbon dioxide (CO{-2}{-)}emission. As CO{-2}emission has negative impact on the environment, the NLC planned to reduce emission. The Super Critical Boilers would consume low specific fuel when compared to conventional boilers.
