Graduation day of Jawahar Science College held
If the country is to progress adequate attention has to be paid to women's education. If this is done, women, who are the primary caregivers in the society, would turn out to be good administrators and economists, said A.R.Ansari, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
Mr Ansari was delivering an address at the Graduation Day of Jawahar Science College here at the Lignite Hall in the Neyveli Township on Sunday. It was heartening to note that 70 per cent of 1,500 students studying in the college were women who had excelled in academic performance.
Mr Ansari underscored the point that educating women would bring about many benefits to the families as well as the society. Quoting Swami Vivekananda he said that those nations that had paid due respect to women had achieved greatness and those countries that did not were quite way off the goal.
Mr Ansari pointed out that though women had proved their mettle in many spheres they had to go a long way to achieve equal status in the minds of men. Therefore, he called upon men to respect women and also women to develop mutual respect to their counterparts.
He called upon the young graduates to make learning a life-long habit. They should constantly update their skills to face the challenges. Even if they happened to fail in their attempt they should derive a lesson from the failure.
Mr Ansari exhorted the graduates to give up defeatist mentality and develop positive attitude and strive to the utmost to succeed in their career.
On the occasion the Chairman also gave away certificates and medals to meritorious students.
The Chairman also instituted two gold medals to be given away to outstanding students (one boy and one girl student) of the college. NLC Director (Project and Planning) R.Kandasamy in his presidential address called upon the students to imbibe self-confidence, keep physically fit and focus on contribution to the society.
NLC Director (Human Resources) S.K.Acharya, president of the Jawahar Education Society S.Ramalingam, general secretary M.Kamalanarayanan, secretary P.Kuppuraj and Principal V.T.Chandrasekaran participated.
