New-look district website

Collector C. Samayamoorthy on Thursday launched the district’s redesigned user-friendly website, which now has a range of new information, which will be of great help to students, particularly research scholars.

Based on directions from the Collector, the National Informatics Centre has come out with the new-look website,, which hosts information about all government departments in the district and elaborates the history of Tirunelveli and even lists the names of all Collectors right from the colonial era.

“Stress has been given to highlight important tourist spots of the district in a bid to give impetus to the tourism industry,” Mr. Samayamoorthy said.

The statistical data about the district, all stored in ‘district handbook’ area, will be helpful for the students, educationists and the research scholars.

Moreover, the applications for getting a range of assistance from the departments of Adi Dravida Welfare, Backward Class Welfare, Education, Revenue etc. can be downloaded.

Since the e-mail addresses of various offices in the district have been given on the website, the public can send their grievances in e-mode, instead of visiting the offices, the Collector said.

“We introduced e-governance in Radhapuram taluk as a pilot project. It received a thumping response from the public, who feel that the new system was handy and saved a lot of time and resources. It will be extended to other parts of the district shortly,” Mr. Samayamoorthy said.
