PERAMBALUR: A new sugar mill in the private sector, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Sugars, will come up in Perambalur district in November next year.

According to its Chairman and Managing Director A. Srinivasan, the mill, with a daily crushing capacity of 3,500 tonnes, will be constructed on 150 acres in Udumbiyam in Veppanthattai taluk. It mill will have a co-generation plant of 23 MW capacity.

The mill would provide direct employment for 750 persons and indirect employment for 3,000 others. It would ensure cultivation of high yielding variety of sugarcane to benefit farmers in and around Perambalur. Efforts would also be taken for prompt issue of cutting orders and tie-up arrangement for bank loans to benefit sugarcane growers.
