MADURAI: Rural women in the throes of labour pain will have the State Government’s helping hand in the form of free and timely transport from their homes to hospitals. A new scheme is being launched on August 1 wherein health authorities will pick up expectant mothers during labour pain and take them to the nearest Primary Health Centre, said the Director of Public Health, P. Padmanaban, on Thursday.
