PUDUKOTTAI: A new Lions Club Lions Club of Mathur sponsored by the Lions Club of Lalgudi, was inaugurated here recently.

The District governor of Lions Clubs International - District 324 A2, G. Manoharan inaugurated the club and the vice district governor, S. T. Srinivasan installed the office bearers. M. Muniappan was installed as the Charter president of the Club along with the Charter Secretary, P. Ravichandran and the Charter Treasurer, Ravi J. Dhanraj.

Delivering his maiden address, Mr. Muniappan, listed out the year's projects that are on cards and hoped that he would have the constant support at the cabinet level.

Among the projects planned are free medical camps targeting the elderly and educational schemes at the school level. Few speed breakers near the premises of the schools at Mathur would also be setup soon, he said.

Inducting the new members, the District Chairperson - Membership Development, B. Bhuvaneswari, spoke on the need for a strong role of organisation such as Lions Club in rural areas and urged the new members to seize every opportunity they come across to help the needy. Mr. Dhanraj handed over the membership fees to Mr. Manoharan.
