The Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here got a new Dean with forensic medicine expert B.Santhakumar assuming charge on Monday.

Prior to this, he was the Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital at Sivaganga.

After taking charge, he had an informal interaction with heads of departments in the GRH and doctors of various specialities.

The new Dean also called on Cooperation Minister Sellur K.Raju, District Collector L.Subramanian and Corporation Mayor V.V.Rajan Chellappa among others.

“I am a person who will not confine myself to my chamber. Accessibility to the public is a promise that I make today,” Dr.Santhakumar told “The Hindu.” He is also the Dean of Madurai Medical College.

Stating that he is already on the job straightaway, the Dean assured that his aim is to give complete image makeover to the GRH and make it one of the best Government hospitals in the State offering top class treatment.

He says that transparency in administration will be ensured and anyone can approach him for redressing their grievances.

“I see this as a great responsibility and will leave no stone unturned to do my best for the hospital, staff and patients,” said 54-year-old Dr.Santhakumar.

His predecessor N.Mohan has been transferred as Dean of Government Medical College Hospital in Salem during the promotions and transfers announced by the State Government last week.
