In response to complaints about delay in issuance of family cards
SALEM: State Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam has assured that steps would be initiated to issue new family cards to the eligible applicants without any delay.
Residents of Anna Nagar met the Minister, while he was inspecting the development works being carried out by the Salem Corporation in their ward on Wednesday, and complained that there were inordinate delays in the issuance of new family cards.
Many residents claimed they had submitted the applications seeking new family cards a few months ago. But they were yet to receive new cards. The Minister assured that he would take steps to speed up the processing of the applications.
Earlier, he inspected the construction of apartment buildings through the Slum Clearance Board in Ward 27. A sum of Rs. 6.64 crore was allotted for the construction of the buildings, the Minister said.
He also inspected the construction of a bridge in Arisipalayam, road works and the second phase of the Tirumanimutharu River project. He instructed the officials to speed up the implementation of development works.
While inspecting the construction of super speciality hospital, Mr. Arumugam said the work was expected to be completed in the month of August this year.
The Minister also received petitions from the people in different parts of the city. Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini, Corporation Commissioner K.S. Palanisamy and senior officials were present.
